Keith Nishida was born in Southern California, but also credits Hawaii and Oregon for raising him. After teaching at Oregon State University’’s Design and Human Environment program for several years, he came on as Assistant Professor of Fashion Marketing at Woodbury University’s School of Business, with a specialization in fashion communication, consumer behavior, and merchandising. Prior to embarking on his doctoral studies, he has enjoyed working in various capacities for fashion and creative companies such as BCBG Max Azria, Abercrombie & Fitch, Lacoste, GenArt, and Tadashi Shoji. He has taught courses based on his experience in product development and fashion promotion (visual merchandising, styling, fashion journalism). His educational background in family & consumer sciences at CSULB as well as psychology at the University of Hawaii lends itself to a multi-disciplinary approach to teaching and research. His current research interests include innovative marketing activities of apparel goods through the digital media, the Hello Kitty niche market, and the sociocultural changes of the male consumer. He is also the proud founder of a fashion + lifestyle publication based in Oregon, DAMchic Magazine, which has won People’s Choice Awards and multi-nominations for Best Fashion Publication by the annual Portland Fashion and Style Awards.
